Study On The Status And Countermeasures Of Internet Counseling In China University

As a new model of psychological counseling, internet counseling is welcomed by those seeking help and has been concerned by more and more researchers, because of special interactive autonomy, convenience and anonymity. Through surveying the status quo of internet counseling in China University and Nanchang University, this study found:(1) On the whole, internet counseling in China University is in the early stages of development. In the 1475 survey of colleges and universities, only 328 universities carry out internet counseling, accounted for 22.24% of the total number. The main services are e-mail and message.(2) Nanchang University in December 26, 2002 to carry out internet counseling has made good achievements. The total number of recorded message is 5041 as of the end of 2007. Internet counseling has been a strong supplement of the traditional counseling and an indispensable part of the school mental health education. This study by analyzing the classification of the recorded messages of internet counseling in Nanchang University finds that the most of the issues of consultation are love and sexual problems, personal problems, school problems. Theory and methods of the traditional counseling can be well used in internet counseling.(3) Although internet counseling in China University is booming, but it is still at an early stage of development and there are some problems can not be ignored. For example: lack of exploring the theory of internet counseling; single service ; the own problems of internet counseling (virtual sex, greater mobility, inconvenience of network exchange words and non-verbal communication); people's understanding of internet counseling is different; lack of professional teachers of internet counseling; working with poor management.(4) In order to promote the development of internet counseling, web-based the status quo of internet counseling in China university and combined with existing problems, this study made the following response: raise the awareness of the college administrators, counseling teachers and college students; strengthen the network of psychological theory and practice of research; ways to integrate services; handle the network and traditional psychological counseling relationship; strengthen the network of professional psychological teachers building; strengthen the management; improve the network of colleges and universities psychological ethics codes and corresponding laws and regulations.
