Application Research Of Form Element Of Ding Vessel In The Shang And Zhou Dynastis In Comtemporary Product Design

In China, the bronze culture is a miracle of the world. It is the pinnacle of world civilization, and it played a huge role in promoting the development of world civilization. In the bronze Vessels which were excavated in Shang and Zhou dynasties, ding vessel is the highest status and the most research value. Its technology and design philosophy are of high value on learning for our localization of Contemporary product design.Based on information collection, collation and analysis, the past study of bronze vessels has two main characteristics: First, the research is about comprehensive analysis and classification system, but the ding vessel is never studied as an independent study subject. Second, in Asian countries and regions (including China), epigraphy is the focus; in the Western countries, the main focus of bronze vessels is the artistic value of the form and decoration, and there is almost no research on the form.In this paper, the typical ding vessel has been taken for examples. Through the detailed field survey, cultural relic studies, literature studies studies of research methods to collect the elements of ding vessel and analyze its character. To conclude the traditional form elements from the ding vessel and to use them in product design are the emphases and the main purpose, the details are as follows:(1) Starting the work from the art form of ding vessel, and combining product design and aesthetic knowledge. To analyze the characteristics of each part of ding vessel and abstract the traditional form elements and use them on product design.(2) From the morphology, design methodology, product form semantics and archaeology, summarizing a method which is on traditional form elements.The form elements of ding vessel has a bright Chinese characteristics, It is a combination of contemporary design, and it will reflect unique artistic charm and cultural. In this paper, to analyze and research the form elements, and learning from the ancient artifacts in the design of the essence in order to provide a reference for Chinese Localization of contemporary product design.
