The Study On The Management Of City And The Change Of The Citizen's Living Style In Northeast China Before The "9.18"

Modernization of cities in the northeast of China was developing with imperialist aggression, so the development of northeast cities presents colonial culture obviously. These colonial policies introduced many foreign advanced technologies and research fruits, which changed the city appearance from traditional to modern and from undeveloped to civilized. Northeast cities had the guidance effect of polity, economy and culture either in public infrastructure construction or in urban management.The paper reverts to the whole process of modernization of the northeast cities by consulting Mukden Times, a very important newspaper at that time. It extracts useful information from dispersed news, essays and advertisements. By analyzing and summarizing the information, it integrates the fragments of the city life and finds their internal relations. The paper discusses the related problems about modernization of northeast cities before Mukden Incident, mainly about the urban public administration and citizen life in three parts. In part tree, it studies on representation of modernization in civic life, generation of townsfolk consciousness and imbalance of northeast cities development.This paper discusses representation of the urban public administration and citizen life, citing a lot of reports, using historical and logical methods. By consulting Mukden Times, it analyzes and demonstrates the information from specific to abstract.This paper has some innovations. First, it consults Mukden Times, making it as original data and selects useful information by analyzing and comparing. Secondly, the research on the modernization of northeast cities relates to a wide range, basically covering each aspect about it. This fills the gap in modernization of northeast cities. Finally, this paper mentions the practical significance of studying modernization of northeast cities, which has reference function in some extent.
