A Study Of The Relationships Between Soldiers' Identity And Military Songs

Military music is very important in China's music history. Military songs, the music image of an army, are the main body of China's military music culture. With poetic lyrics and melody with military characteristics, military songs represent an army's values and emotions, and are an effective way for the education and development of the military spiritual culture.From the angle of ethnomusicology, this thesis firstly explains the classification, characteristics, and cultural values of military songs, and their influence on soldiers. Further, it elicits soldiers' attitude towards military songs based on data collected from several periods of field work. On this basis, the thesis discusses the relationships between military songs and the identity of soldiers, and demonstrates the role military songs have played in the construction of soldiers' identity. In addition, the thesis aims to propose suggestions on the production of military songs and the development of military culture.
