| This thesis makes a research based on Taoism which is one of Chinese major religious,analyzes the characteristic differences on the issues of treatment of female compared with the other systems of theory.As a Chinese home-grown religion, Taoism has a great influence which can not be ignored.The all-embracing Taoism has unique knowledge and admiration for women.From the world outlook,Taoism explains the development process of nature based on the changes of yin and yang; advocates the moral thought of "guiyinshouci";affirms the existence of women and the possibility of becoming supernatural being;points out a method of practice for women and in which some ethical norms and principles were brought forward;and stresses the importance of ethical self-cultivation.The theoretical basis of Taoism,that is,the theoretical sources of Taoism—Taoist thought proves this point first.Tao-te ching,the representative work of the leading representative of Taoism—Lao-tzu is deified as classic of Taoism,in which "Taoism generates one,one generates two,two generates three,three generates everything, everything goes for Yang with Yin,harmony is obtained through Chong Qi." "Eternal God of Gu is Xuan.The gate of Xuan is the root of heaven and earth." "As the softest thing in the world,water is No.1 to conquer tough things,and nothing can replace it. Tenderness can conquer toughness,and gentleness can conquer stiffness." These theories of "Everything goes for Yang with Yin",the theory that female is the root of heaven and earth,and the theory that tenderness conquer toughness all reflect the idea that Yin is dominant.Lao-tzu's idea that Yin is dominant is enriched by Chuang-tzu, Liezi and Huai Nan Zi.Secondly,goddess of Taoism and worship of fairy is a distinctive feature of Taoism as a religious form compared to other religious forms,as well as a specific presentation to show respect and worship towards women.There are numerous goddesses and fairies in Taoism,and most of them have important place. Complete personalities are given to numerous goddesses and fairies in Taoism,most of which is embodied through their ethical virtues.This also shows that goddesses and fairies in Taoism are not superficial,but sacred and existent in the heart of Taoists. Besides,it is an example to encourage common women to break through constraints and pursue other realm of themselves.No matter what perspective is taken,respect and worship towards women in Taoism can be felt.Thirdly,as a religion,Taoism exploits extensive space for women in the level of methods of exercise.How to realize the pursuit towards one religion and the ideal of one religion is the aspect to which every religion in the world attaches importance to.What's different is that the exercise way special for women is created uniquely in Taoism as pioneer.From inside to outside,from the exercise of ethical virtue to the exercise of Nv Dan,a complete set of methods are crated.Therefore,it is for sure that Taoism shows care and even preference towards women.Based on the analysis of viewpoints and thought for women,this thesis aims to provide a different perspective and exert a positive impact for Chinese study of women. |
