The religious reform of Akhenaten which caused significant influence on the society is an important event in Egypt which indicated the emergence of the Amarna Period. After Akhenaten,a period which had a connecting link between the preceding Amarna Period and the following Ramesside Period turned up.It is worth studying because of its transitory position. This thesis has tried to do some analysis on the ruling order, foreign and domestic policies and the features of art in order to have an overall view of the period.First, this thesis has a brief introduction on the Amarna Period which is the background of this period.Secondly, this thesis has been divided into four parts to study the condition of this period. On the rulers' sequence, the changes of the rulers are frequent until Horemhab ascended the throne. On the domestic policy, the most important is the abandoning of Akhenaten's reform. And,for the purpose of stabilizing the society, every ruler tried to legalize their own government by doing all sorts of propaganda. On the foreign affairs,it was a hard time for Egypt though after Horemhab got the throne, condition went better. The feature of art mainly inherited the style of the Amarna Period, and in some cases it develops its own character. After Horemhab,it turned back into tradition. In the end, this thesis makes a conclusion about this transitory period, trying to reveal the importance of this era.
