Analysis Of The Situation Semantics Solution To Paradoxes

As the important model in the research of semantic paradoxes in recent years of the West,the situation semantics solution to paradoxes develops a school of its own among many programs for semantic paradoxes resolution. This paper attemps to study carefully the backgroud of the situation semantics solution's creation,to clarify and summarize systematically the basic ideas and spiritual essence of the solution,to analyze the rationality and deficiency of the solution,to discuss the solution's promotion to many related theories. This paper includes the following four parts:The first part of this paper is to study carefully the background of the situation semantics solution's creation.First,a new better program for semantic paradoxes resolution need to be raised urgently because the programs in the past have lots of defects.Secondly,the rise of "context-sensitive program" and the advent of situation semantics enable it possible to raise the situation semantics solution.The second part of this paper is to clarify and summarize the basic ideas of the situation semantics solution. Through the introduction of the "context" ,the creation of "Austinian propositional view" and the establishment of "Austinian true value view",the situation semantics solution solves intuitively a series of semantic paradoxes such as the strengthened liar paradox.The third part of this paper is to evaluate the situation semantics solution. To preserve the validity of the classical logic,to make the world's "consistency" and "integrity" co-exist harmoniously,to accord with the RZH criterion for paradox resolution completely,the rationality of the situation semantics solution is demonstrated. The deficiency of the solution lies mainly in its formal technique.The fourth part of this paper is to reveal many important enlightenments of the situation semantics solution. The source of semantic paradoxes lies in the negligence of the "context". The classical logic semantics has many limitations. The information age puts forward new requirements for the development of logic. Logic is diverse and complementary.
