| This thesis summarizes the recent ten years development of Singapore Chinese Tuition centers.As Singapore is multi-racial country,it has unique society background,population mix, multi-language and education system.In Singapore,language policy is an important part of the government's political,economy and society tools.Since 1959,PAP started dual language policy, English has became a common language for all education subjects.At the same time,it became a common society language,while Mandarin became a mother tongue and market language.In 1984,full Chinese schools have closed.Approaching 21st century,China has evolved economically creating a new life for Mandarin.MOE has revamped its education system, expanding the usage of Mandarin and developing elites in Mandarin.With increasing importance of Mandarin,more Chinese tuition centres have been set up.Based on Singapore strategy and Mandarin education system,the thesis evaluates the survival & development of Chinese tuition centres.It focus on CDAC,PA,Han Centre and Y&C Training valuating the distribution,market,structure,operations and development of the tuition centres. |
