The Phenomenon Of Psychological Patricide In The Works Of Shen Congwen

As a "non-mainstream" writer,the modality of psychological patricide in Shen Congwen's works was non-mainstream and also had been neglected during the psychological-patricide-age period of May 4th.However,it was unique and brilliant.The phenomenon of psychological patricide in his works can be traced to the follow four aspects:the fast one was that father's image was set to a point of dispensable and irrelevant,making him absent and silent in his works; the second was that the father's image,who was modern civilized,was besmirched;the third was that the happy and free feeling which the figure without father showed off;lastly,he can't help overturning the father's image with traditional civilization which created by himself.In Shen Congwen's eyes,father was not only a sort of power but also the representation of the truth and loses for human being.The appearance of these father's images symbolized two different humanities.These images were different from the mainstream writers who were to embrace new life,and to kill the father who was traditional,feudal,evil,authority,and confined freedom."The traditional father" made by Shen Congwen gained the true meaning of respect and affirm.Shen Congwen fought against father who was modern and civilized and loses of humanity by the original and inherent image of father.Just because of psychological patricide and psychological casting father,he had criticized the modern civilization and defended the traditional humanity. However,the destruction of traditional,which caused by reality and the invasion of modern civilization,made Shen Congwen aware that the difficulty of guardianship was too hard.Due to this hardship,he was sorrow,contradictory,and definitely.However,this was the destiny of Chinese ancient civilization.While casted and overturned the father images which he created, Shen Congwen sang a dirge for the reality and nature humanity of ancient civilization with affection of never reconstruction.
