Investigation Into Management Of Religion Properties In Current China

The problems existing in management of religion properties in current China are special and complex because of their sensitivity to politics and twoness of law and religion,which are seldom theoretically investigated.It is extensively known,however, that the possession of religion properties is essential to religious communion's existence, the daily life of clergy and the development of religion.In addition,some kinds of rituals themselves are aimed to collect or endow money and other properties,which enables dealing with religion properties essentially important in daily religionary life.It is,therefore,necessary to investigate and discuss the management of religionary properties to protect the freedom of religion and avoid the misuse of religion properties. This thesis includes four parts as follows:The first part discusses some basic definitions related to the management of religionary properties,such as 'communion','religion organization properties' and 'the contents of religion organization properties' etc.These concepts are further defined in terms of religion viewpoints.The management system of religionary properties in current China is presented in the second part of this thesis.First,where religion properties come from is discussed,i.e. 'endowment','self support','heritage' and 'governmental special funds'.Secondly,the modes of possession of religionary properties are investigated,respectively,according to various religion.The third segment of this part introduces how different types of religions manage their properties;at last,it is presented the ways in which different types of religions deal with their properties.The third part presents problems existing in management of religion properties in current China and what caused these problems.It is thought that law practice,economic basis and history traditions are responsible for the.chaos in the management of religion properties in current China.Some suggestions for the improvement of management of religion properties in current China are presented in fourth part of this thesis.The focus of improvement are on several aspects,i.e.construction of related laws about religion organization properties,reform in the system of management of religion properties,establishment of contemporary religion management and improvement of people's awareness,which is hoped to be helpful to management of religion properties in current China.
