"Self",which appears frequently in Milan Kundera's novels and his theory,in the eyes of Kundera is essential. The word not only reflects the author's interest in exploring self-mystery,but also has profound significance because of its continuing presence.Researching Kundera in the context of Chinese acceptance to the "self" point of view has been always obscured and ignored. This paper attempts to thoroughly analyze and scoop the exploration of Kundera on self-mystery and the presentation on "self" in his novel version to further understand this core theme of Kundera's novels and help us to restore our audio-visual,so that we can see the possibility of self in the cultural soil full of absurdity and dislocation and pursuit of self-freedom and happiness of the individual in the dissimilate reality. In the interview of Christian Salmon,Kundera said explicitly that "all the fictions of any age are concerned about the mystery of self."It goes without saying that Kundera's novels are also concerned about the mystery of self.Through the summary of the ways of all previous novelists concerning about the mystery of self,Kundera made his own way of opening self-mystery,"to grasp oneself means to seize the nature of self-existence and the password."The first part of this article aims at analyzing the Kundera's way of concerning about self-mystery from the perspective of the novel art.The second part of the essay is the presentation of "self" in Kundera's novels which is the main characters' search for self.In the way of search for self, many people in Kundera's novels choose to have their own interpretation of the possibility of "self".Or the individual consider other as a mirror to achieve "image" to confirm self, finally, the imitation of "image" leads to the conformity and sinks into "average man" Heidegger said;Or place the self-identify in researching and thinking of the relationship between body and soul, but in the climate after modem time, the living situation of non-physical differentiation leads that the relationship between body and soul has been ripped, and the result is that the individual who pursuit the harmony of body and soul are confused and difficult to self reference which perform as uncertainty, while others abandon and replace the body, and recognize themselves as the soul, which result in an incomplete-self.so alienation is inevitable;Or resist and eliminate suppression of the established system in the way of betrayal and games in which the lindividual can remove other's eyes and find an absolutely spiritual self, but subversion and deconstruction of the symbols of all values, they lose the spiritual subjectivity and crash into the nihility. Finally, the self is homeless. It can be seen that Kundera's characters are mostly described as self-alienation which lose the spiritual subjectivity.People will never change until death in the pursuit of self are always lost, and then the original self can be realized.Through the analysis of the text,we find the common traits which the individual really realize themselves in the novels are as follows:Firstly, such figures are often the elder rather than young people because the elder are forced into the death, has been in the situation of dying, and are able "being towards death" to be the original survival, while the young refuse to recognize their destination of death and waste their half a lifetime in the alienation.Kundera reveals the plight of human existence from another angle; The second point is that only back to the idyllic state of the Garden of Eden can the self achieves integrity, harmony and freedom, however,in the world full of absurdity and dislocation everywhere,"the place that stays away from this world and the crowd does not exist",and the place"is separated from with the humanity"also does not exist. So the well-being idyllic life is just a vague illusion. In this sense it can be said that the self human work hard to seek can not be realized. At the end of the article, the search and exploration of self is always end up with dissatisfaction with paradox inevitably which is the logic of being.
