| Feminist translation approach is the outcome brought by the combination of feminism and the Cultural Turn in translation studies. It provides translation studies a gendered perspective. Keeping gender as a clue, feminist translators introduce the idea of gender politics into literary translation and regard translation as a kind of political act which constitutes the power collision between men/the author and women/the translator. Driven by its political inclination, feminist translation approach tries to fight for women's equality through translation. So they revise the traditional concept about fidelity and affirm the equal status between the original and the translation. During this process, translators' subjectivity is recognized and justified.Since Zhu Hong first introduced feminist translation approach into China in 1980s, it suffered a cold reception. It does not recapture the Chinese scholars' attention until recent years. Nowadays, more and more translators and translation theorists show their interests in this subject. So a thorough study about feminist translation approach's influence on literary is necessary.This paper consists of six parts.The introductory part explains the research background, scope, methodology and purpose of this research. Then Chapter One introduces the historical and theoretical background of feminist translation approach and briefly reviews the previous academic findings in this area. Chapter Two discusses the influence of feminist translation approach on literary translation, as reflected from the following points: politics of gender, new perspective of fidelity, the relationship between the source text and the target text, translators' subjectivity and new translation practices it offered. Chapter Three specifies the research on the influence of feminist translation approach on Chinese literary translation practice, with case studies from Zhu Qingying and Zhu Hong's translations. Chapter Four offers some critical comments on the limitations of feminist translation approach. In the concluding part, its contributions to translation studies are reaffirmed. |
