A Discussion About The Popular Novels Of Ye Lingfeng

Ye Lingfeng,as a literary writer,actived in the 1920s and 1930s in Shanghai.He always varies his style with a strong self-consciousness, pursuing different literary style, trying to use new methods for literary creation.By means of the constantly changing,he Challenged the limit and exceeded himself. In the 1930s, he attempted to find a right balance between Chinese New Literature and Popular Literature, by creating three popular novels ,which makes him get a position in the blending of Elegant literature and Popular Literature.First, this paper presents the external environment during when he wrote the three popular novels,leding to find some external factors of his creation. In the 1930s in Shanghai, the Context of literature,the relation between newspaper and citizen, citizen and serial stories published on newspaper,newspaper and serial stories,that all infullenced Ye Lingfeng.Second, by making analysis of the text of the three popular novels on the four aspects:expressing love, modern youths and maidens,balance between the traditional morality and the individual desires,and the artistic characteristics, this paper describes the characteristics of the three popular novels, which are both in Chinese New Literature and Popular Literature. The paper also describes the newspapaer's influnce to Ye Lingfeng form both internal and external angles.Finally, Based on above analysis, we draw the conclusion that: Ye Lingfeng' popular novels are important and valuable on the blending of Elegant literature and Popular Literature.
