A Textual Study On Personal Information Of Juren Of Ming Dynasty In Kaifeng, Henan

Henan province holds an advantageous position in quantity of Ju-ren during Ming Dynasty.As the capital of Henan province,the quantity of Ju-ren holds the trump card comparing to other part of Henan.So,if we can have a good understanding of the situation of Ju-ren from Kaifeng during Ming Dynasty,then we can know more about the educational system,local culture,economic environment, marriage system etc.It is very important to provide a reliable list of Ju-ren which includes their names,exam time and native places and living places as the base of futher study in imperial examination of Kaifeng or Henan.It is very necessary to organize a relatively reliable and complete material of Ju-ren of Kaifeng during Ming Dynasty since we cannot find an existed one.After the Preliminary compilation of the basic information of Ju-ren in whole He-nan during Ming Dynasty,I focus on Kaifeng area.Kaifeng Tongzhi of Kangxi(《康熙开封府志》) is my main reference book during the course of the study. I also have exploited related information resources of historical evidence such as local chronicles,Henan Xiang-shi lu(河南乡试录),Teng-k'o lu(登科录),Hui-shi lu(会试录),Jin-shi Ti Ming Bei(进士题名碑) and biographies.Textual research on the administrative district of Kaifeng in Ming Dynasty is followed by textual research on the basic information of Ju-ren like their names,exam time(the textual research on metropolitan examnination year only when it is helpful and necessary to the textual research on Provincial Examination year) and native places and living places based on the historical evidences available.By revising those incorrect records,complementing those omitted parts and leaving a question open to those I cannot reach a conclusion because of insufficient resourses.The thesis consists of five parts:ChapterⅠ:The source of historical records about the name lists of all Ju-ren of Ming Dynasty in Kaifeng,HenanChapterⅡ:Textual research on the quantity of Ju-ren of Ming Dynasty in Kaifeng,HenanChapterⅢ:Textual research on the names of Ju-ren of Ming Dynasty in Kaifeng,HenanChapterⅣ:Textual research on the Provincial Examination year of Ju-ren of Ming Dynasty in Kaifeng,HenanChapterⅤ:Textual research on the native places and living places of Ju-ren of Ming Dynasty in Kaifeng,HenanThe last part includes some attached Tables of Ju-ren in Kaifeng,Henan of Ming Dynasty.
