Kang-i Sun Chang, an influential American sinologist, is noted for her outstanding investigations in women literature of Ming and Qing dynasties. Most of Kang-i Sun Chang's works on women literature of Ming and Qing dynasties and Feminist Literary Criticism have been translated and introduced to Mainland China, but domestic researchers haven't given a careful and inextenso study on her works. On the basis of a solid study of her works on women literature of Ming and Qing dynasties, this paper aims at exposing how Sun uses the theory of Feminist Literary Criticism to peruse women literature of Ming and Qing dynasties, her comments on the literary position of women writers in Ming and Qing period. The characteristics, signification and some defects of Sun's study exposed in this thesis are supposed to offer references for the domestic research on related topics.The paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduces the multilingual background and abundant research productions of Kang-i Sun Chang. Being a restudy of Sun's study on women literature of Ming and Qing dynasties, the second chapter is focused on Sun's research findings. After giving a thorough discussion of the conception of "Literary-Culture History", Sun's core concept in investigating literary position of women writers of Ming and Qing dynasties, the author not only records Sun's arguments on the above topic, but also proposes that modernity is another cause of the change of "canon" in chapter three. Based on the explicit analysis of Sun's research, the paper concludes with writer's considerations that Sun has brought to domestic research.Based on the original works of Kang-i Sun Chang, this paper is to summarize the characteristics and significance of her study in literary and cultural research. This paper adopts close reading, and Kang-i Sun Chang's original works, literary truth and opinions of related researchers are fully considered.
