This thesis aims to probe into the influence of simultaneous interpreter's schemata upon the use of anticipation strategy in simultaneous interpreting and attempts to shed light on anticipation training as part of SI training.Simultaneous interpreting is regarded as a highly challenging task which calls for both proficiency of the source and target languages and employment of a number of techniques and strategies, among which anticipation is considered one of great significance and an important factor contributing to the success of interpreting. Therefore, anticipation has drawn more and more attention from interpreters and researchers.Successful anticipation is rooted in interpreter's comprehension of source language text from syntactical and discourse level. Only when actual language input and relevant information and knowledge in the long-term memory interact can anticipation become possible. Thus, the way in which knowledge is stored in one's long-term memory, the schema, plays a guiding role in anticipation. This thesis employs relevance theory, Chernov's Probability Model, study by the Parish school, and scheme theory, which provide the theoretical framework for the present study, to analyze how interpreter's schema affects anticipation and to come up with instructions and inspirations for anticipation training. In this present thesis, authentic conference simultaneous interpreting materials are used for analysis to answer two research questions.
