| The intercommunion of China with other countries is becoming more and more frequent after China joined the World Trade Organization (WTO). Machine translation (MT), time-saving and convenient, plays an important role in helping people overcome language obstacles and promoting mutual understanding. As one of the world's ten scientific and technological difficult problems in the new century, the study of machine translation and other relevant fields has an important academic significance, great practical value and obvious market prospects. In advanced countries, such as America, Germany and Japan, machine translation has already formed a very great industry and has got more general use. Investigating the current situation of MT in our country, we cannot feel optimistic. Though we have got decades'accumulation of MT study, and some research societies have been formed, still there is a very great disparity compared with the advanced countries. The translation quality is less than satisfactory. The greatest problem translation software faces is to improve translation quality. The present domestic translation software is not less than one hundred kinds and has certain practicability. Though MT software can improve people's working efficiency to some degree, it still has a long way to go to reach the level of human translation. This paper selects the present two kinds of domestic translation software YaxinCAT2.5 and Huajian translationV3.0 to analyze the translation quality of the two from three aspects—lexicon, ambiguity and transformation; furthermore, it makes a contrast with human translation quality. The author attempts to discuss the current situation of China's MT software and reasons of hindering the software development through the translation quality contrast and analysis of the two kinds of translation software. At last, the author puts forward some personal opinions on the development of the MT software in the future, hoping to give some instructive suggestions to people who aspire to the great development of machine translation. |
