Yichang is located on the western edge of Hubei.There are high mountains,dense forests,abundant products and pleasant scenery here.In addition,there are many kinds of folk art treasures with peculiar artistic forms.There are Tujia and Hmong beside Han nationality.Crying marriage is a Tujia folk-custom.Kukiahe is a miracle in the national folk music art garden in western Hubei.As a product of Tujia culture in western Hubei,Kukiahe reflects the life profile of women in our country.It is the pride of the common people and the art that art researchers are keen on.Studying the current situation and protection measures of Kukiahe of Tujia in western Hubei can not only help us better understand the local excellent folk culture,but also improve our professional quality and connotation.For the protection and inheritance of this culture,the author also puts forward his own thoughts and suggestions.This article consists of three parts.The first part is the analysis of the current development situation of Tujia Kukiahe and its existing problems.The author briefly expounds the current development situation of Tujia Kukiahe,and expounds that Kukiahe has lost its usefulness and meaning from the aspect of changes of the times.The author analyzes the problems existing in the development of Kukiahe from six aspects:the slow renewal and lack of innovation and vitality in the development of Kukiahe,the lack of in-depth understanding of Kukiahe’s own national culture,the lack of performers’own quality and ability,the lack of attention to the inheritance and development of Kukiahe and the disappearance of Tujia language,which have made Kukiahe lose its carrier.The second part is Tujia Kukiahe’s artistic characteristics and performance artistic characteristics.The author introduces its artistic features from three aspects:Singing Form,the lyrics characteristic and the music characteristics.He analyzes Kukiahe’s singing and learning from the perspective of academic vocal music,and elaborates Tujia Kukiahe’s performing arts characteristics from the perspectives of Kukiahe’s singing skills and the significance of its characteristics.The third part is about how to inherit and protect Tujia Kukiahe in the contemporary situation.The first angle is to analyze the significance and value of Tujia Kukiahe’s existence from four aspects:cultural value,commercial value,entertainment value and communication value.The second angle is how to inherit and protect Tujia Kukiahe in the contemporary situation.Among them,there are four solutions:first,to promote the development of Tujia Kukiahe through mutual integration with local tourism.Second,the local government takes measures to publicize and protect Kukiahe.Thirdly,enhance Kukiahe’s own folk cultural deposits to make it more distinctive and constantly innovate to adapt to the aesthetic standards of the times.Fourth,introduce into the local textbooks and courses.
