This research, based on the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and the Coping Styles Questionnaire, with 622 armed policemen randomly group sampling from Tibet region, explored the situation of State Anxiety (SA) and Trait Anxiety(TA) of armed policemen in this region. And it probed into the relationship between these two kinds of anxiety and coping styles.Furthermore, detailed comparisons between the two kinds of anxietiy and demographic differences such as sex, nationality, military-service years, educational level, enlistment pattern, rank, and elevation of service location. Results turn out as follows:First,SA was in positive correlation to six coping styles: problem-solving,self-accusation,help-seeking,fancying,withdrawal, rationalization;TA was in positive correlation to fancying and withdrawal.Second, fancying may effectively predict SA.The same was true with the coping style of problem-solving for predicting TA.And fancying can give cross-criteria prediction for TA.Third, about the anxiety. As for SA,it's significantly higher among subjects from the Han nationality than those from the Zang nationality as well as subjects with undergraduate educational background than those with high school educational background. In respect to TA,subjects, who serve in the army for less than 2 years, show significantly lower TA than those serving longer(3-5 years or 11-15 years).Specially enrolled military school students(directly from current senior middle school graduates) reveal obviously higher TA than the enlisted or the enrollees from university graduates.Higher TA can also be found among the army men with undergraduate educational background than those with high-school education or junior college education.Soldiers' TA is significantly lower than officers' and military students',and petty officers' TA is significantly lower than military students',too. Considering the elevation of service location, the army men at above 4,500 meters have significantly lower TA than those at below 3,500 meters or at 3,500-4,000 meters.Similarly, the men at 4,000-4,500 meters show significantly lower TA than those at below 3,500 meters.According to the above results, this research puts forward the following proposals.Firstly, the troops are supposed to lay more emphasis on psychology-health education, especially the input of modern psychology theories such as personality trait and coping styles. So that the armed policemen in Tibet will form their own healthy personality traits.Secondly, feasible psycho-behavioral training should be added,to help the acquisition of scientific coping styles.Thirdly, pay close attention to mental health state of military school students who are enrolled directly from current senior middle school graduates.Fourthly, keep concerned about the life quality of officers and soldiers from the Han nationality, and help them take effective coping styles to relieve their SA.
