Li An as the only Chinese director who won the Oscar Academy Awards, whose movies bridges west and east, features internationalization. The oriental traditional culture penetrates all of his movies, and integrates the spirit into the stories.The Chinese classical narrative aesthetics is also made full use of as for the plane of movie narrative approaches and manifestation. It is safe to say that glamour of oriental traditional culture has been fully manifested in his movies.However, there hasn't been a systematic study upon the orientalism and features in Li An's movies. The paper tries to make a discussion about the orientalism in his movies in terms of author, text and manifestation.Firstly, it studies Li An's unique style as a scholar as well as the reasons from Li An's cultural background and experience. Then, it explores Li An's orientalism in movieson the textual level. The Chinese traditional cultural spirit penetrates in all of Li An's movies against conflicts and integration between East and West, tradition and modern culture. And the oriental cultural spirit has been fully displayed.Also the paper makes a further research on the Chinese classical narrative aesthetics of Li An's movie language with his comprehension and modernization.Li An and his movies,with their great impact upon the world movie, have constituted important cultural phenomenon. His success is worth our research and of great practical significance to expose how Chinese movies and Chinese culture go to the world.
