The Chinese traditional vegetation dyeing art has a long history and is widely spread, which originated in Denebola, developed during the Xia Dynasty and the Northern and Southern Dynasties, got its prosperity during the period from the Sui Dynasty to the Mid-Qing Dynasty, and was in recession during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. It is the crystallization of wisdom of the working people in ancient China as well as the gem of Chinese traditional folk arts. After a long history of the evolution, the traditional vegetation dyeing art has entered a highly industrialized twenty-first century, when a totally new social and economic environment has put forward higher requirements for the survival and development of the vegetation dyeing art. It is an important issue for the rejuvenation of the traditional vegetation dyeing art to know its historical evolution, learn from its experience and probe rationally into its contemporary development.Chapterâ… focuses on integration of the relevant literature in the periodicals and on the internet and analyzes deeply the research background, its purpose, its significance and the present research achievements to organize the research thinking and the research topic on the basis of concluding the present research achievements of the vegetation dyeing art.Chapterâ…¡is to sift and present the definition of the Chinese traditional vegetation dyeing art, its types, its techniques and its colors to provide necessary theoretical groundwork for the topic.Chapterâ…¢makes a detailed exposition of the historical evolution of the vegetation dyeing art, which is made up of four phases on the basis of its theoretical account. The author tries to make rational and fair comments about the rising (Denebola and Denebola ago), development ( from the Xia Dynasty to Northern and Southern Dynasties), prosperity ( from the Sui Dynasty to the mid-Qing Dynasty) and recession (from the late Qing Dynasty to Republic of China)of the vegetation dyeing art.Chapterâ…£discusses systematically the important values of the traditional vegetation dyeing art in contemporary society, which includes five aspects, namely, aesthetic value, cultural value, practical value, environmental value and economic value. It puts forward the significance of the traditional vegetation dyeing art for the rejuvenation in contemporary society.Chapterâ…¤probes deeply into the current development and the loss of the traditional vegetation dyeing art in contemporary society from six aspects: the public awareness of the vegetation dyeing arts , its raw material supply, material standards, application performance, market adaptability and the industrialization.Chapterâ…¥is the conclusion as well as the main part of this paper. It puts forward a series of practical strategies to the problems and deletion mentioned in Chapter V. The author proposes his unique insights by integrating some experts' opinions on how to improve public awareness of vegetation dyeing art, how to expand the supply of raw materials, how to set up materials standards, how to optimize application performance, how to adapt to the market and how to promote its industrialization.As a typical traditional folk art, the Chinese traditional vegetation dyeing art has a very complex development process and it faces kinds of problems in the rejuvenation in contemporary society. This paper tries to explore the problems to the greatest extent. However, no final conclusion has yet been reached on the development of the vegetation dyeing art in contemporary society, which requires consistent practice and persuits of the government, universities, enterprises and the general public and the dedicated research and promotion of people from all walks of life.
