Cultural Studies Of Zhu Shenghao's Translation Of Shakespeare's Plays

Zhu Shenghao,the great translator of contemporary China,devotes his whole life to the translation of Shakespeare's plays, but his translation thoughts don't arouse enough solicitude of research. The paper explores his translation and studies on Shakespeare's plays, and his commentaries on the translation, which are the great treasures in the Shakespeare study and the translation history of China. His theory of Poetic Charm comes down in one continuous line with Chinese classical literature and aesthetics, and a connecting link between the preceding and the following with traditional translation history of China.The whole dissertation consists of four chapters except the foreword and conclusion. Chapter I discusses the impetus of Zhu Shenghao's translation of Shakespeare and his theory of Poetic Charm in translation thought. Chapter II is devoted to a study from the perspective of culture, and it points out that the insights of Shakespeare has laid a good foundation for the translation and conveys the spirit of Shakespeare. Chapter III focuses on the characteristics of language in translation, and points out that Zhu shenghao's translation reflects the inherent beauty of the literature and reproducs the original "spirit" embodied in Shakespeare's plays, the translation of Zhu shenghao consequently takes on pursuit of aesthetics. Chapter IV presents the comparative study of different translation texts by different translators of Shakespeare's plays, such as Liang Shiqiu, with the pectination of representative opinion and the impact in the translation of Shakespeare's plays and the illumination of Chinese translation Studies.
