| Greece women's education in Classical age in the entire ancient Greek has an unique meaning.After the development of Homer's and Archaic age,this period of women's education had been shown a more typical characteristic.This paper aims to summarize the character and influence of woman education during classical era,through the representatives of the two city-states Athens and Sparta'educating system,which takes an analysis of history base on woman education formation as well as the woman education attitude of that society the conclusion is divided into three parts except preamble and epiloque.The preamble discusses the significance of this thesis research,academic research results at home and abroad,as well as research methods.The first part analyzes the women education's history foundation of Greek Classical age. The women's education in Classical age have two extreme views,which stem from two different view of women,positive and negative view of female.Although the concept of two women view poles apart,but they come out from the same source-Homer's epic.Homer's epic reflected in the quaint and original concept of women through the development of Archaic age,eventually the two different concepts come into existence.These two concepts have affected women's education development,exert an influence on later years.The second part analyzes the concept of women's education of the Classical age philosophers.By means of comparing the four classical philosophers,Socrates,Xenophon, Plato and Aristotle's view on women's education,this part expatiates the difference of women'education in classical age.Although Socrates and Xenophon belong to the representative of a more moderate view,but their concepts of women's education are different. Plato and Aristotle's concepts of female compared with Socrates and Xenophon are not so moderate,but both of their outlook on education are different.Plato had put forward the most radical view of women's education on the classical world,Aristotle demonstrats that women and men should not accept equal education from the angle of biology,political science and ethics.These philosophers' thought reflects the degree of social concerning on women's issues in classical age,their thoughts,especially Aristotle's concept deeply affects the whole ancient world. The third part is an analysis on reality of woman educating situation of Athens and Sparta in the classical age of Greece,concept of Philosophers can only reflect some of the advanced theoretical concepts,however,it is limited.In the society of classical age,women's living conditions are extremely complex.Because of the different identity,different sectors of women's lives are completely different,therefore education accepted are different.This part takes the two city-state Athens and Sparta as examples,which make some comparative analysis of women education,and explore the characteristics of female education in classical age.Also in the field of religion,being given woman some responsibilities in rituals,such ones are reflected from female education.Conclusion describe the women's education circumstance form its birth to development and change in classical age.Women's education is always accompanied by the society views on women and take it as a basis.Women's education in classical age still aremainly confined in family,But we can see,in this era,a lot of women can go out of home,grow their vision,it provide a basis for much more female acceptance of education in Hellenistic age.It can be said that the education of Greek women in Classical age have an important linking past and future... |
