Heroes were an indispensable group of characters in the religious and cultural life of ancient Greece,and they were worshipped and praised by the Greeks.The Classical Era was the golden age of ancient Greek civilization,during which the heroic images of Greece developed to maturity and demonstrated important value in religion,politics,and literature.By analyzing the heroes in classical literary works,we can gain a deeper understanding of the religious beliefs,political systems,and social life of Greece at that time,which is of great significance for understanding the civilization of ancient Greek city-states.This article consists of three parts: introduction,main text,and conclusion.The main text is divided into three chapters.The first chapter elaborates on the historical origins and historical background of the portrayal of heroic characters in the Classical Era.The first section of the first chapter analyzes the origin and development of heroes in ancient Greek religious worship.It first analyzes the social origins of hero worship activities,including tomb worship in the Dark Era,the rise of ancient city-states in the Antique Era,and the rise of epic literature.Then,it analyzes the early primitive characteristics and historical evolution of heroes in religious worship.The second section analyzes the heroic characters in ancient Greek literature before the Classical Era,analyzes the mythical and idealized characteristics of heroes in epic and lyrical poetry,and interpret their symbolic significance.The third section discusses the social background of the development of the heroic group in the Classical Era,sorts out the situation of the prosperity of the Greek commodity economy,the rapid development of democracy and the tortuous changes in social order and ethos in this period,and explores the relationship between these changes and the development of the secularization of the Greek heroes.The second chapter analyzes the heroes in classical tragedy.Through the analysis of the heroes in the tragedy of Athens,we can see the Greeks’ pursuit of beautiful qualities such as loyalty,justice,and piety,as well as their resistance to fate,as well as their emotional perception of life and death.The heroes in classical drama are closer to people in reality than before,contrary to the noble status of heroes in religious worship in this era.The flaws in the character and personality of heroes in literature have been magnified,but the excellent qualities of heroes and their resistance to fate remain the focus of engraving.By analyzing these heroic images,we can see the moral characteristics and value pursuit of the citizens in the classical city-state society they reflected.The third chapter analyzes the significance and influence of hero shaping in the Classical Era.The role of heroes in politics includes inspiring people’s enthusiasm for defending the city-states,establishing the banner of resisting authoritarian tyranny,pursuing democracy and freedom,serving as moral models to inspire citizens,and so on.They can have a wide impact in political life.In terms of culture,the creation of hero stories during this period often had distinct regional characteristics,which played a significant role in promoting city-state culture and enhancing the recognition and recognition of the city-state in the Greek world.The heroes also demonstrated the ideal spiritual realm of the Greeks,who were brave and resilient,pursued honor,and valued life and death.The heroes bravely fought against the inevitable fate and sublimated in death,achieving a reconciliation between men and fate,as a symbol of the complex emotions of the Greeks towards death and life.Countless Greeks used this as a goal to constrain their moral character and worked hard,thus creating their national spirit of equality,unity,bravery,and nobility.At the same time,tragic works depicting heroic stories in the Classical Era and their portrayal of heroic images have provided material and models for future literary and artistic creation in terms of themes and creative techniques,with a profound impact.Through the analysis of the heroes of the Classical Era,it can be seen that Greek heroes continue to develop with the changes of the times,reflecting the complex social conditions and popular values of Greece during this period.Heroes,as symbols of the ideal realm of the Greeks,transcend life and death as religious images and achieve eternal life in death.Their existence not only reflects the characters of Greek reality at that time,but also reflects the Greek people’s piety towards faith,reverence for death and honor,resistance to fate,and beautiful expectations for life and the world.
