Ilha Verde was once an insignificant islet.There were many fierce arguments between the Chinese and the Portuguese government over whether Ilha Verde should be included as part of Macau Territory.The development of Ilha Verde in Macau played an important role to the northern part of Macau development socially, economically and culturally.Therefore,it is a crucial part for the history of Macau and it is essential to do the research on the development of Ilha Verde in Macau.This thesis attempts to include as much available historical information as possible.Base on the information,this essay will explore the systematic development of its ecological environment,the process of opening up and developing its land,the arguments between the Chinese and the Portuguese and the development of the community.This thesis can necessarily clarify some arguments in the field of historical science.In addition,there are comments made on the development of Ilha Verde in Macau systematically.Hopefully this thesis can show the development of Ilha Verde in Macau in a nutshell and can also enrich reference for Macau history.
