The Constructional Restricted Mechanism Of Noun Shifting Into Verb In Chinese

The subject of this thesis is the restricted mechanism of the class shifting of noun into verb. Searching and analyzing natural language has been emphasized.The major methods of searching and summing up natural language,semantic analyzing,combining decrypting and explaining have been adopted in order to find the restricted mechanism of noun shifting into verb. And the constructional theory has been adopted to research from the aspect of semantics,pragmatics and cognitive linguistics,to reveal the restricted mechanism of noun shifting into verb.This thesis first describes the phenomenon of noun shifting into verb,and then classifies the common used noun of Chinese.Later the restricted mechanism of special use of noun and the pragmatic restricted mechanism of noun shifting into verb are discussed.And in the end the thesis tries to find the cognitive reasons for noun shifting into verb.The key points of this thesis can be divided into two parts.The first part describes and concludes the types of noun shifting into verb.According to frequency,noun's shifting into verb has been classified into fourteen kinds,which can fall into seven groups.It is stated in this thesis that certain construction only admits certain types of noun.Only those certain types can be used in the construction and shift word class.The second part thoroughly analyzes the phenomenon described in the earlier part.The constructional grammar claims that the construction itself has its meaning.Thus,this thesis focuses on discussing how the context restrict the class shifting of noun,from the aspect of semantics,pragmatics and cognitive linguistics.And the class shifting is the combined effort of these three factors.As concluded in this thesis,the class shifting of noun into verb has its base in human cognitive experiences,and is affected by concrete pragmatic factors.Moreover,the meaning of the noun and the meaning of the construction must fit;and the integrity and consistency of the sentence structure must be considered.
