The Research On The Facts Of Fairy Tale In Calvino's Our Ancestors

Italo Calvino,Whose whimsical and imaginative fables made him the most important Italian fiction writers in the 20th century."Our Ancestors",which has been writen in 1950s,is one of his representive works.The first of these fantasies,"The Cloven Viscount",is an allegorical story of a man split in two.The second and most highly praised fantasy,"The Baron in the Trees",is a whimsical tale of a 19th-century nobleman who one day decides to climb into the trees and who never sets foot on the ground again.The tale wittily explores the interaction and tension between reality and imagination.The third fantasy,"The Nonexistent Knight",is a mock epic chivalric tale.These fictions embody a concentrated reflection of the fairy tales flavour.There are four aspects about fairy tales in this paper.The first one is structure,which can be proved by Propp's Structuralism Folklore.By formulating the structure in "The Nonexistent Knight", it is clear that Calvino's works are concise and full of meaning,which have relationship with "quickness" and "exactness",the key words in "American Lecture"(the only systemmatic poietics work of Calvino).About the character,there are three levels:the fairy antetype;the character typecast and the illusioned feature.The inner ideology source of these figures deserves more attention,it appeared the emphasizing of imagination in "Visible" lecture.At the beginning of enviroment,the concept "typifiction" is proposed,sample forest and ocean are used for explaining the antetype meaning and the romantic color of the fiction.In the end,Ecociticism is put forward in the interdispline point of view to understand the intension of the enviroment better.In the language analysis,the simple humour style and the double depiction are highlightened.In the latter one,the shadow of the polyphonia theory appeared in "multiplicity" lecture will be found..Structure, Character,Enviroment and Language,these four aspects are repectively involved in Structuralism,Comparative literatural impact study,Ecocriticism,and Narrative study.Each aspect aims at finding corresponding bonding point between fairy tales and Calvino's view of poetics.Therefore,it will be available to grasp the ideology of Calvino's work in a new angle and a profound deepness.
