Reading is obviously the chief way from which we gain and exchange messages. With the development of psychology and linguistics, the research to reading concept is becoming further and further. Choosing a suitable approach to improve students'comprehension has become one of the great important contents in English teaching and researching. However, the research result was often not so satisfyingReading is an active, fluent process which requires students to bring their background into the reading, to interact with the selections, to become imaginatively and intellectually involved and to share and shape their responses within the classroom settings. The readers should not be satisfied by only reading word for word on purpose of gaining the literal meaning of the material.Task-based approach can somewhat make up many limitations of the traditional teaching models. Task-based approach offers a change from the grammar practice routines through which many learners have previously failed to learn to communicate. Its aim is to provide learners with a natural context for language use by emphasizing on learning by doing. A reading task stimulates students'participation and it provides readers with the opportunities to work harmoniously with others.One year of experiment in which task-based approach is adopted in reading class to improve the students'reading comprehension in vocational school proved the method is superior to other models.
