| Economic news intended for foreign audiences open a new channel for them to update their knowledge of China and have a better understanding of Chinese economy. As a special news type, economic news is professional, concise and practicable. Due to the text type—foreign-oriented publicity—of the economic news, the translation purpose is to achieve aesthetic value of the information and the news. Different nations with different thinking patterns have different aesthetic value. For the westerners, they prefer concise and precise economic news to lengthy or high-sounding ones. But from the translated version of China economic news, various forms of redundancy can be spotted, which weaken the value of translated economic news and undermine the effectiveness of the information intended to convey.From the text-type-based motivation of economic news and the purpose of achieving the aesthetic value of the target text in the translation, the translator can follow the Principle of Economic Conciseness and Information-prominence. But it's a guiding principle rather than self-sufficient system. It needs manipulative/operative rules to carry it into practice. Therefore, various rules are applied to deal with redundancy and realize the concise, precise and effective convey of the Chinese economic news. In this process, cognitive linguistics, especially its cognitive parameters, serves as an instrument to identify the property or nature of linguistic signs and analyze the manifestations of redundancy.This paper is to establish a category of technique theory. It is hopeful that it will provide a effective guidance or leading principle to those who are engrossed in economic news translation, some cognitive enlightenment in the identifying of redundancy and manipulative rules to avoid the reoccurrence redundancy.
