In the framework of relevance theory, the translation process is defined as a dual ostensive-inferential communication. Relevance theory claims that optimal relevance is achieved with the best contextual effect plus the least processing effort. It is the same with tour guide presentation. In accordance with the relevance theory, three translation strategies are put forward: foreignization strategy, domestication strategy and the strategy of combination of foreignization and domestication. Under the guidance of relevance theory, domestication strategy and the combination of these two strategies are more suitable than foreignization used independently in translating tour guide presentation. By these two strategies, translators can not only achieve optimal relevance and help the tour guides to get the immediate effect, but also satisfy the foreign tourists'desire for understanding Chinese culture.
