Philosophical Reflection On Contemporary Dialogue Between Science And Religion

The thesis makes a tentative exploration on the dialogue between contemporary science and religion upon the issues of the origins of the universe and human-beings. Most domestic and foreign scholars have analyzed the relationship between science and religion from the aspects of typology analysis and historical studies. In light of typology analysis, the relationship between science and religion can be summarized as conflict theory, separation theory, complement theory and dialogue theory, among which dialogue theory is able to well explain the contemporary interaction between science and religion. Specific areas of natural science such as physics, biology have provided a fine platform for the dialogue between science and religion and its main subject of it is the research of the origins of the universe and human-beings. The contemporary dialogue between science and religion makes people realize that science does not have nothing to do with religion, thus, the dual theory of knowledge has been questioned. Owing to the complicated relationship between science and religion that can not be summed up on one pattern, we have to observe their relationship from multi-levels and multi-angles. From the dialogue between science and religion, it is obvious that scientific theories have limitations. Science is not omnipotent and it can not replace religion. Therefore, scientific hegemony stands no ground. On the other hand, with more and more victories made by science against religion, religion has also made adjustments and reforms to meet the requirements proposed by the time. Religion, however, is blind without the guidance of science.
