This thesis centers on the aesthetic conception of Lacan's theory of The Unconscious is the Discourse of the Other. This thesis consists of two major parts: the introduction and the body. The introduction presents the literature review of the translation, research and reception of Lacan's theory in China. The body of the thesis is divided into two minor parts: the introduction of Lacan's theory and the application of his theory to the analysis of literary works. The first part offers an exhaustive exposition of the development of the conception of Unconscious and the construction of Lacan's theory of The Other based on which the theory of The Unconscious is the Discourse of the Other is deduced. In the process of deduction, the approaches of structuralism, linguistics, topological psychology and anthropology are employed. The second part illustrates respectively the application of the theory of The Unconscious is the Discourse of the Other to the Psychological Analysis of Hamlet, the Character Model of Spiritual Triumph of Ah Q and the Subject Experience of Creator.
