To convey information, language has to resort to symbol. Body language is a form of non-verbal communication symbols. Body language refers to nonverbal and often unintended communication on the part of one individual to another. Nonverbal communication takes place by means of facial expressions, head movements, eye contact, hand gestures, body positions and acts, and so on. In general, body language expresses an individual's emotions, feelings, and attitudes by body, which is widely used in daily life. In the world of non-verbal communication symbols, dance is the most exquisite one. Born in the earliest period of human society, the art of dance is an essential part of human civilization. Dance is also treated as a media to transmit and record culture among the development of other civilization. The symbols of body language with the function of language, express an individual's emotions and attitudes. Sincerest and purest emotional information and incomparably abundant amount of cultural connotation are reflected in dance language.In order to improve people's cognition degree of dance and the social value of dance, based on sociolinguistics and science of body language, the paper analyzes the language features, kinds and styles of dance language in the perspective of applied linguistics. Then, by putting dance back into daily life, the paper explores the profound connotation and relative cultural background of dance language through decomposition analysis of the dancer's morphology and gestures. By this, the paper addresses the relationship between dance language and daily life. Besides, based on cross-cultural communication, the paper demonstrates the significant role of dance in cross-cultural communication through comparative analysis of dance language in Chinese and western culture circles. As an important envoy of cultural communication and emotional renaissance, dance never stops to promote human communication. Finally, the paper concludes that a solid interdependent relationship between dance language and daily language exists, and dance is a graceful communication.
