The Research On Xu Xiake From The Perspective Of Tourism Earth-science

Xu Xiake was a great geographer,traveller,explorer and writer of the Ming Dynasty. He began his travels at the age of 22,and during the later 33 years,his footprints covered more than half of China, leaving us his travel notes of 600 thousand words of his difficult tours of observations. Since travel notes of Xu Xiake was printed, espically contemporary, a number of scholars have made painstaking efforts to probe into Xu Xiake and his works from many different perspectives. so far, such enormous achievements have been made and a new branch—the so-called"Xu (Xiake) Industry"—came into being,which has been a popular topic in contemporary social sciences. However, I discovered that the numerous scholars mainly focus on studying the Xu Xiake biography, the times and route of his travel , academic contribution of"Travel notes"and so on, while Xu Xiake's achievement of Tourism Earth-science hardly is cared about. This is the weakness of"Xu (Xiake) Industry"studies.This article which bases on predecessor's studies, takes Tourism Earth-science as the breakthrough point and uses the essential methods of history, the ethnology, the literature study, the sociology and the tourism to reorganize, analyze and promote Xu Xiake's achievement of Tourism Earth-science comprehensively. This article mainly is divided into three chapers:The first chaper has taken life path's technology of time geography to analyze Xu Xiake's travel process. And Xu Xiake's traveling is divided into three stages and induced his traveling characteristic in this chaper.The second chaper has combed Xu Xiske's achievement of Tourism Earth-science, particularly his achievements of tourist resources of Earth-science and traveling environment.The third chaper mainly elaborated five ponders of contemporary tourism,which are initiated by Xu Xiake's traveling practice.
