The Pearl River basin is one of the most important river basins in China.It's mainstream Nanpan River originates from the mountains in northeast Yunnan province,flows through the eastern Yunnan province and Southwest Guizhou province,and then flows into the Beipan River as the Hongshui River,all the way down to the south,across Guangxi province,and finally flows into the sea in Guangdong province.In the Ming Dynasty,the middle reaches of the Pearl River was a region of ethnic minority Tusi and the traffic was so blocked that it was difficult for outsiders to understand.In the late Ming Dynasty,Xu Xiake,a famous Chinese traveler and geographer,made an investigation of this region by himself and left a monumental work named Xu Xiake's travel notes.His monumental work,Xu Xiake's travel notes,not only vividly describes the beautiful natural scenery in the mountains along the middle and upper reaches of the Pearl River,but also details the colorful national culture of the region.Based on the information clues provided by Xu Xiake's travel notes,supplemented by many ancient and modern documents,this paper makes a detailed study and discussion from the perspectives of scholars cultural tourism in the late Ming dynasty,the historical value of YueXi tours of Xu Xiake's Travel Notes,the mountain ethnic settlements in the middle and upper reaches of the Pearl River,and the diet of mountainous area residents in the middle and upper reaches of the Pearl River.Xu Xiake was not only a famous geographer,but also a great historian.His contribution to history is also of great value.His contribution to history is also of high value.Combined with this article,YueXi tours of the Xu Xiake's Travel Notes,which is mainly recorded in GuangXi,has precious historical value.It provides important historical data for the study of social life in the middle and upper reaches of the Pearl River in the late Ming dynasty.The ethnic settlements in the mountains of the middle and upper reaches of the Pearl River in the Ming Dynasty were influenced by multiple factors,such as the natural environment and the cultural environment,and showed different characteristics from other settlements.By studying settlement distribution,settlement festivals and customs,settlement defense and settlement living conditions,it can be basically seen that the material civilization and spiritual civilization of the mountain ethnic settlements in the middle and upper reaches of the pearl river in the Ming dynasty were roughly similar.These basically reflect the general appearance of material civilization and spiritual civilization of ethnic settlements in the middle and upper reaches of the Pearl River in the Ming Dynasty.Diet is an important part of national social life.The diet culture of mountain ethnic groups in the middle and upper reaches of the Pearl River has a long history and rich connotation.At the end of the Ming Dynasty,the ethnic diet was an important reflection of the social and economic level at that time,and was closely related to the local natural environment.
