The Anyang Yin Dynasty ruins take the late business politics, the economical, the technical culture center, not only created the Chinese earliest mature writing - - inscription on animal bones and tortoise shells, but also by the bronzeware, the jade carving and so on was celebrated worldwide.The late business time bronze culture, multitudinous and in the quality attracts worldwide attention finely by its quantity in, it concentrated has manifested the Shang Dynasty artistic standard and the social esthetic prevailing custom, to at that time and later generation's utensil modelling, the decorative design in a utensil all affected greatly.The Yin Dynasty ruins bronzeware is the Chinese bronze culture core is at. This paper focuses on the bronze Shoumianwen in Yin ruins as a model of study. With a view to its origins, functions, techniques and other concerning factors, the author of this paper concludes that the bronze Shoumianwen in Yin ruins, as a graphic of symbolism, is the relic of original totem culture, the embodiment of form and function resulting from"animism", and a concentrated expression of the politicization of religion in late Shang dynasty. Through the analysis of its form and artistry, this paper indicates that the Shoumianwen graphic is a compound animal ornamentation by the creating mechanism of"getting the image by imitation". It is very creative in its graphic construction and shows the aesthetic implications of the oriental aesthetic characteristics. Meanwhile, these variform bronze Shoumianwen graphics illustrate a complex aesthetic characteristics of ferocity, symbolism and imagery. Our current graphic designs and creations have greatly benefited from those relics, and when we re-examine and appreciate these decorative graphics, we can clearly feel the great wisdom of our ancestors.This paper includes five parts on this study: Part I: the background, purpose and significance of this study;Part II: a brief introduction of the bronze and bronze decorative graphics in Yin ruins;Part III: verifying the origins and analysing the implications, functions, producing techniques, and types;Part IV: refining three aesthetic contents and features of Shoumianwen graphics from the above analysis;Part V: the significance of traditional graphics to contemporary graphic design.Through the above comprehensive analysis of the bronze Shoumianwen graphics, this paper aims at providing a perspective and method for the study of the Shoumianwen on the relationship between form and function, times and aesthetic requirements. By properly adopting and conveying the spirit of traditional national artistry in modern society, we can thereby help to strengthen the self-confidence of local designers, and serve our modern society.
