The Military Situation Of The Amdo Tibetan In Ming Dynasty

Amdo Tibetan Region is in the northeast of the Tibetan Plateau .This important district with strategic terrain and had complicated nationalities . It was not only one of the major populated areas with Tibetan, but also a famous national corridor of the northwest and mixed Mongolian, Turkish, Hui, Dongxiang, and many other nation. At the beginning of Ming Dynasty, Emperor had been fully aware of the importance of controlling Amdo Tibetan Region ,in order to defense Mongolia and control Wusizang more better. From Hongwu Period, Ming dynasty started to send troops to operate this area, successively adopted a series of policies.Ming dynasty set about to tightenning administration to upper reaches of Amdo .The government set military garrisons ,took chieftain syestm, promoted and supported Tibetan Buddhism , took mutual-market,tea-horse trade and so on .Through taking these effective console policies, Ming dynasty gradually strengthened to appease the minorities, not only developing economy and social of Amdo, stabilizing border areas'safety,but also promoting trade and exchange of economy and civilization between Han and Zang and other minority nations.Something Needed to be pointed out was that such interaction in the form of diversity, was carried out not all in the Tibetan smooth situation. In fact, the stability of Amod had played an important role in the whole frontier. In order to protect the stability of Amdo Tibetan more better, on the basis of force, Ming dynasty took a especially military defense strategy " primarily by comforting and coordinating with military force ".However, for a variety of reasons, there were resistance or obedience sometimes , national dispute and many other issues. Against this, from beginning to end ,Ming dynasty enhanced defence to frontier , attempted to strengthen the northwest border forces,allow the financial circumstances, and of course, to achieve this purpose Ming Dynasty also paied too much.Through making "unrest and insurgency" as center ,it could help us to realize the significance of Amdo Tibetan,understand administration strategic,and analyze the policies of administrating Amdo Tibetan .
