Narrative Trap Of MaYuan's Novels

As a branch of literature movements in new period of time,'Pioneer Novel'once played an important role in the field of literature. Ma Yuan, a leader of'Pioneer Novel', brought us another option of novel writing with his brilliant talent and excellent novel experiment. Some unique characteristics of Ma Yuan's writing lashed the traditional novel models, such as the interlink narrative procedure, mazing suspense, various combinations of story gragments and the self-contradictory narrative language. These meet the needs of modern readers, also put commentators in an embarrassing position. Ma Yuan's works brought us a strange experience of reading, it also challenged readers'understanding ability. It has been proved that readers always get a feeling of confusion when they are reading Ma Yuan's novel, it explains why his novels were called"Ma Yuan style narrative trap".From a perspective of the reader-reaction theory in James Phelan's narrative rhetoric, this paper did a context analysis on Ma Yuan's confusing"narrative trap"which not only concerns the content of narration, non-spolt writing style and the complexity of narrative motivity, but also concerns the complex author-text-reader relationship aroused by"I"and"you". It has a connection with the narrative ontological format which characterized by the special track of readers'consciousness.
