As a great writer after Li Bai and Du Fu in the poet circle in Tang Dynasty, Bai Juyi had a great affection for Luoyang from his childhood. When he was young he was zealous in serving the society, and was active in political practice. Having experienced the dangers and difficulties in the political circle, he decided to leave the political circle, and settle down in Luoyang in Dahe 3rd.(829AD), and started the "zhong yin" life as long as 18 years, just like what he had sung,"Si chu fu si chu, fei mang yi fei xian." During the withdrawn life, he was given to drinking wines, composing poems, communicating with friends in poems, and dicussing about Budism philosophy. But he did not forget politics. During the period, he raised funds for excavating the Bajie Beach in Longmen in every way, and to repair Xiangshan Temple. In this period, Bai Juyi composed more than one thousand poems. These poems had flourished the culture of Luoyang, and had raised the fame of Luoyang geatly at the same time. This paper discuss the reason why Bai Juyi withdrawed to Luoyang, his thoughts, creations and his companies during the withdrawn life, and his great influence to the culture of Luoyang.
