Researches On Xuan Ying'sNanHuaJingJie

The famous ancient historian SiMa'Qian praised Zhuang-zi that it is rich in language varity, and good at rhetoric, such as metaphor and analogy. Later, the study on the interpretation of Zhuang-zi continues in the every period of China. NanHuaJingJie, as an important works in scholarly history of the study of Zhuang-zi in Qing Dynasty, is created by XuanYing in the early of Qing Dynasty from JuRong,JiangSu Province(now belong to the city of ZhengJiang), having a great influence upon later generations. This dissertation attempts to probe into NanHuaJingJie in order to get a systematic and whole understanding.The dissertation consists of four parts besides preface and conclusion. The first part discusses two points : one is the author XuanYing's growth circumstances and its great influence upon the way of thinking of XuanYing. The other probe into the time character and its fuction on XuanYing. The second part discusses one important character of NanHuaJingJie, namely, annotating Zhuang-zi in view of Confucianism. This point is mainly embodied in two aspects: the admiration to Confucius and the middle way[dao](the mean way that avoids any extreme), treating the society like Confucianism with warm heart. The third part attempts to probe into the other character, annonating Zhuang-zi in the way of literature and language. This part analysis the character from three angles: trope, structure and artistic conception. The fourth part analysis its status in scholarly history of the study of Zhuang-zi and its meanings to the later generations, mainly aiming at LiuFengbao in the middle of the Qing Dynasty and WangXianqian of late Qing Dynasty.
