Disabled is a misfortune of human. As a common situation, literature cannot or not able to avoid talking about disability. Different kinds of disablement in literature not only relate to physical disfigurement, which include inconveniences of daily life, limit of abilities, physical pain and so on, but also notice financial and psychic stress that disabilities put on themselves and their families. Disablement is a heavy cross on human; it's the sin that we have to face. At the same time, Disablement is an important metaphor in literature. This article use abundant examples to analyze disablement's contradictory metaphor. On one hand, disablement is the punishment of sin or fault; it sometimes is the sign of moral loss, character assassination, and limitation of history, culture and society. On the other hand, people often ignore disabilities' shortcoming, show great goodwill to them: disablement shows nobleness of personality and follow social ideal. In female authors' literature, disablement, especially disablement about female character is always their view to care of female's situation, even their flag of feminism. No matter what kind of metaphor, literature must obey aesthetic rules. Therefore we have to guard a tendency that immoderately romance disablement.
