Mandarin course is an important basic skill course that is widely opened by Chinese major in Higher Normal institute, and has positive affection on improving students' mandarin level, strengthening students' professional popularizing mandarin. However, there are still some problems in Mandarin teaching of Chinese Major in dialect area. This thesis takes Hunan dialect area as example to try to find these problems and search the original of them initially and put forward the corresponding solution.The first section analyses the necessity of mandarin teaching of Chinese major in Higher Normal institute from three aspects: the nation's policy of popularizing mandarin, the individual development of Chinese majors and the mandarin teaching in Middle school.The second section clarifies some problems which exist in the teaching of mandarin in Higher Normal institute from three aspects, they are student,teacher and course design.The third section exposes the main causes in detail that lead to the above problems. That is, the restrictions of region and interference of dialect; the deficiency of Chinese basic education; the affection of exterior environment; the lack of teacher's overall quality; and the passive attitude of students, etc.The fourth section expatiates the concrete ways to solve those problems. That is, strengthen the mandarin course's development; improve mandarin teachers' quality; build up a favorable campus language environment; improve the mandarin teaching in class. We hope authorities concerned, the students and teachers of universities and colleges and every world of society can pay great attention to the present situation of mandarin teaching and change it as soon as possible from its root.
