Study Of Paraphrase Of Polysyllable Adverbs In Modern Chinese Directory

The subject of this article is paraphrase of polysyllable adverbs in Modern Chinese Directory. We adopt the methods of qualitative analysis with quantitative statistics, description combined with explanation and contrastive analysis. By researching paraphrase of polysyllable adverbs in Modern Chinese Directory thoroughly, we try to reveal the characteristics and laws of paraphrase of polysyllable adverbs in Modern Chinese Directory.The article composes of six parts:Introduction: It includes research history and current situation about the adverbs and the paraphrase of them, the purpose and significance of this research, the research objects, materials and methods and so on.Chapter One: Inspect the paraphrase of polysyllable adverbs. Paraphrase is the core of dictionary compilation, and it should be scientific, accurate and complete. Firstly we discuss the paraphrase of polysyllable adverbs in this section. The content of the paraphrase of polysyllable adverbs comprises the lexical meaning, grammatical meaning, color meaning and pragmatic meaning. Adverbs mainly express the paraphrase of grammatical function, so except lexical meaning revealment of the paraphrase of grammatical function (of adverbs) has a key significance to adverbs'paraphrase.Chapter Two: Inspect the manner of polysyllable adverbs'paraphrase in Modern Chinese Directory. This section adopts the method of qualitative analysis combined with quantitative statistics. Focusing on the fifth edition of the Modern Chinese Directory, we systematically study the manner of paraphrase of the 866 polysyllable adverbs and then summarize the law about the manner of the paraphrase. We discover that using synonyms to paraphrase each other and illustration are the main manners when we paraphrase the polysyllable adverbs. Among the polysyllable adverbs, there are many synonymous adverbs.Chapter Three: Relations between the meanings of polysyllable adverbs restrict the paraphrase of adverbs. These relations include synonymous relation, antonymous relation and so on. Among these relations, synonymous relation is the most obvious one existing in the polysyllable adverbs. In this section, we will mainly study the synonymous relation's restriction on the paraphrase of the polysyllable adverbs. In this section, we systematically analysis the manner of paraphrase about the synonymous adverbs and summarize the characteristics and laws of paraphrasing the synonymous adverbs in Modern Chinese Directory. We find that each group of synonymous adverbs has one"core word", which is usually paraphrased much more detailedly, and the main paraphrase manner is illustration. The paraphrase of"non-core word"is a bit simpler. The main paraphrase manner is using the synonyms to explain each other. The dictionary of Modern Chinese Directory, which generally uses the core words illustrates the non-core words among the synonyms. So the paraphrase of the core words is crucial important. Synonymous relation it is the primitive basis of the traditional paraphrase. The synonymous relation affects the paraphrase of the polysyllable adverbs.Chapter Four: Compare the paraphrase of polysyllable adverbs in Modern Chinese Directory to Modern Chinese Normative Directory. We take the polysyllable adverbs in Modern Chinese Directory as the basis and select the corresponding words from Modern Chinese Normative Directory as the comparative objects. We compare the same items which is marked with adv. from the angles of paraphrase characteristics, manners and so on, in order to conclude and summarize the same and different points about the paraphrase of polysyllable adverbs. We can explicitly see that the merits and demerits about the paraphrase of polysyllable adverbs in Modern Chinese Directory.Conclusion: Conclude and summarize the research results and illustrate the theoretical and practical significances of them.
