On The Construction Of Humanist Spirit In The Cyberpunk Novels

Cyberpunk novel is a new literary phenomenon in the new era of the electronic media, It closely related with the virtual reality of cyberspace, and has the historical resource in the Western science fiction, Gothic novels, (Anti- utopia) literary tradition. In the context of economic globalization, In the context of economic globalization and cultural figuring, Cyberpunk novel is the inheritance and development of the illusion tradition and humanist spirit in western literature. It also has rich meaning of society culture. At the same time, it embodies strong science and technology critical spirit as a post-modern culture token. Canadian- American writer William Gibson is the representative writer of the Cyberpunk novel. His"Sprawl Trilogy"( Neuromancer, Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive)show various virtual reality screens of virtual reality world. They show the control of society of science and technology, information and network to the human, and rethink the negative impact of modern technology on human society. At the same time, he also makes readers examine the reality of modern science and technology , the value change of people and reflect on the future direction of human society. This paper aims to discuss the construction of humanist spirit in the cyberpunk novel. It retrospects and analyzes literary historical source of the Cyberpunk novel , explore its social culture connotation and technologic critical theory characteristics. This paper analyzes and interprets the Cyberpunk which is the modern important literary and ideological cultural phenomenon, basing on the literary cases.This paper consists of three parts: introduction, the text and conclusion.Introduction : This part mainly introduces the development of the Cyberpunk novel, and gives its definition and a brief description of its representative writers and works. Card its present study situation at home and abroad. At the same time, put forward the author's theory frame of studying the Cyberpunk novel in this paper.The text includes three relative chapters.Chapter One: This part aims to discuss the historical source and literary characteristics of the Cyberpunk novel. In the context of globalization, the evolution of the culture media, the emergence of the virtual reality and the "Space Turning " of contemporary academic thought promote the formation and development of the Cyberpunk novel. Basing on the present age, it explains the close relationship of the Cyberpunk novel with science fictions, Gothic novels and Utopian Literature - Anti-utopian literature– E-topia literature in literature tradition, as well as literary space .Chapter Two: This part discusses the humanist spirit and technology critical dimensions of the Cyberpunk novel . The Cyberpunk novel particularly pays attention to the deep thinking of humanity , humanity's living conditions and future fate in the fight against talitarianism and the alienation of computer network and other high-tech development. It's always imbued a kind of humanist spirit. This kind of humanist spirit continues the humanist tradition of western literature. On the other hand, it presents the post-modern culture token because of the combination with virtual reality.Chapter Three: This part is the study of literature cases. It mainly analyzes"Neuromancer"in the"Sprawl Trilogy"of Gibson and explores the ideological characteristics , artistic charm of Cyberpunk novels.Conclusion: This part concludes the main ideas of the paper . It thinks that the Cyberpunk novel has a basic spirit—the thought to humanity and its being, as well as how to preserve and reconstruct the humanist value and the subject of the humanity when it reflects on science and technology progress and humanist care, the symbiotic relationship of science and technology and humanity. It warns people to treat the double-edged sword of the development of science and technology dialectically and"reside poetically"in the Cyberspace.
