As China's emergence and development of the modernization process , urban and rural dualistic social structure increasingly loose since the 1980s of last century . Hundreds of millions of workers thronged into cities. It's a signal that we have entered a wage era. Writers who at the same time work for their survival often write with a sense of reality. Consequently they have injected a new qualitative factor to literature. They write about the hard situations confused workers in the difficult state of survival and a plight of soul concerning personal identity. This revealed their concern for humanism of the present society and Ideology of Salvation. However, it is undeniable that as a new force, they still have a long way to go. In this paper, there is a comparison between wage authors and professional writers in recounting the life of the bottom classes. Each other's strengths and weaknesses have been discussed; special attention has been paid to the plight of wage writers'discourse, with a view of an all-round grasp of wage literature.This paper is divided into three parts: the first chapter introduces the social background and the development of Labor literature .Labor literature is the unique product of a social transition, from the beginning of the 1980s so far has it had more than 20 years of history.Its development generally has gone through three phases, which is now gradually gaining attention of the mainstream literary.Chapter II focuses on the plight of labor literature's survival. Three aspects: the spirit of reality, the plight of the soul, the spirit of struggle, have been discussed respectively. Characteristics of Labor literature lies in reflecting a person's basic living conditions and feelings, revealing a person's spirit of struggling for the basic survival in the current situation, a spirit full of dreams and unyielding pursuit.The third chapter relates on narrators of different identities. Discourse difficulties and dilemma existing in wage writhers have been revealed through the comparison between wage authors and professional writers in depicting life of the bottom classes.The conclusion part of the literature expounds on the value and significance of labor literature .
