Alcuin, distinguished academics, clergy and educators in early Medieval England. He followed Frank Emperor Charlemagne to the European continent. He helped to reform the culture and religion, and played significant impact. This paper started with the background of Alcuin, mainly the cultural conditions of England and Frank. England was in the"Golden Age", there had been a large number of academics and teachers, Willibrord, Boniface and Bede; while at this time, Frank had gradually begun to reverse the decline following the invasion of barbarians state and was on the upswing phase. This made Alcuin travel to the court of Frank, with a feasibility and the necessity.Next, the life experiences of Alcuin: be straightened out in the early years to Alcuin of York, the middle-aged Alcuin went to Frank, in his later years lived in seclusion Tours. The paper focused on the merits of Alcuin, and his concern about"Carolingian Renaissance". Alcuin engaged in the reform of the heretical Adoptionism; reformed the Catholic liturgy; amended the Latin Bible to defend the legitimate status of Christian culture; rejuvenated the culture of Frank, prospered court schools, reformed monastery education, and expanded education universally.Based on the facts above, in the early Middle Ages, summed up the role Alcuin played in the history and culture . He was the spirit of causes of"Carolingian Renaissance"; He was in the early Middle Ages between England and the European continent knowledge cultural contacts emissary; to a certain extent, in Western Europe he achieved a major cultural regression, achieved cultural center building in Frank. Thus all those made him the cultural leader in early Middle Ages in Western Europe.
