In the early days of The Middle Ages, Saracens rose sharply, which made changes to the world pattern, they extended to the west Europe quickly. Therefore, western European came into contact with the new population group they had never met. As soon as contact happens, impressions will be left to each other. During the early and metaphase days of the Middle Ages, there were some communication and conflict between western European and Saracens, providing effective basis to the analysis of the cognition that western European made to Saracens.In arranging chapters and sections respect, this article combines longitudinal order, namely chronological order and lateral order, the text is divided into three parts: exordium, test and epilogue.The first part is exordium, mainly including the definition of the appellation "Saracen", the explanations of the study object, and the conclusion of the abroad research actuality.The second part is the test, and it is divided into three parts. Chapter one discusses western European, particularly Spanish Christians'views and understanding about Saracens in early medieval stages, when they contacted for the first time. Chapter two involves an important period of the cognition history, it analyses from three perspectives:church people, literature and The Crusades. Chapter three focuses on the positive evaluation about Saracens beyond the mainstream voice during the whole stage.The last part is epilogue, which summarizes the problem, and puts forward some views.
