On Zheng Guanying's Thoughts

Zheng Guanying was a reforming ideologist and industrialist in modern times. For a long time ,his activities of life and representative book"Blunt Words in Times of Peaces and Prosperity ",which caused a great stir in the society at that time and immensely influenced the later generations. It attracted a lot of interest to study by many intellectuals .Up to today, intellectuals had got a lot of achievements in the academic research work of Zheng Guanying ,but there are some insufficiencies on the study .Many theses mainly discuss his achievements and progressive significance based on his reforming thoughts and designation ,pay less attentions on his comparisons ,differentiations and analyses about today and ancient time's Sino—Western culture behind his reform, especially his differentiations about Sino—Western culture. That is to say ,people pay less attentions to his attitudes to Sino—Western culture behind his reform. So this thesis will discuss his critics and concrete attitudes to Sino—Western culture behind Zheng Guanying's reforming thoughts.On this point ,we can learn Sino—Western culture relationship in people's mind today, and attitudes and decisions cross Sino—Western culture and collision in that fluid situation .On the other hand we can draw on the experience of the senior scholar's essence of thoughts for the new times' culture creativity and development.Zheng Guanying's ideological marrow shows completely and deeply in his representative book "Blunt Words in Times of Peaces and Prosperity ",in which the reforming arrangements and plans wholly show Zheng Guanying's attitudes to Sino—Western culture ,which is studied in this paper. And the study should certainly base and originate on his representative book "Blunt Words in Times of Peaces and Prosperity ",from his words and reforming plans we can discuss his criticism ,differentiations and analyses to Sino—Western culture.Because of the limitation of space, this paper will only discuss and analyze Zheng Guanying's speech words and thoughts from some important aspects, such as politics, economy and education .This thesis expresses that Zheng Guanying realized the breakthrough in "learning science and techniques from Western countries",in which he promoted the learning from "instruments" to "regulations and culture". After that Zheng Guanying also realized the breakthrough in "Foreign techniques and science applicated in Chinese system ",he opposed against "Forgetting Chinese system while imitating foreign techniques" in learning western countries.Meanwhile , he emphasized that people should "learning Foreign techniques and science applicated in Chinese system",only this can we achieve progresses and become stronger.Concretely in politics, Zheng Guanying advocated to follow western countries' constitutional monarchy and parliament or congress. In economy, he advocated to learn business fighting from foreign merchants at the beginning, then learn to fight with foreign merchants in business. In education , he advocated to introduce advanced foreign educational system,and established modern Chinese educational patterns to train new talents to be adapted to the new social situation .At last,in the aspect of relationship between Sino-Western culture, Zheng Guanying thought Chinese culture must be regarded as "the base",people should be active to learn and absorb western culture, then "intermingle Sino-Western knowledge ,and master Sino-Western ideas ".For this, the writer draw a conclusion that Zheng Guanying's attitude to Sino-Western culture was right,and his thoughts on Sino-Western culture relationship was scientific ,so his point of view to Sino-Western culture was an advanced one ,which is open, communicative and creative.It was under the guide of this right and scientific point of view that Zheng Guanying achieved many progress both in theory and in practice ,and become a famous ideologist and industrialist...
