Liu Qiang is a local opera coming from Gu river area in west Jimo city, which spreads far and wide in Jiaodong peninsula and gradually be known by people far away. It is called Jimo Liu Qiang because of its adoption of Jimo dialect and its extensive spread in Jimo. It is not only the special product of Jimo region, but also a different flower with distinguishing quality in Chinese drama garden. As a local opera known by more and more people, Liu Qiang was accepted as the non-material cultural inheritance of Shandong province, and now, people are making effort to promote it as a national non-material cultural inheritance. For all that, since Liu Qiang is not an opera well-known, there are still many difficulties in the development of it. Although Liu Qiang has a history of more than 200 years, it has never got an enough value, not only in the past, but also at present, not only in authorities, but also in academic circles. Because of this, there are little records on county annals or local gazetteers, and being limited to dialect obstacle, few scholars have studied it as a whole, which leading to the blank of Liu Qiang study. In this thesis, I will do my best to solve the problems that has not been solved on Liu Qiang, such as the origin and development, the special features on art, and the analysis of scripts. The textual way of thinking is this: basing on the field investigation and the sorting of data, I want to talk about a few aspects, which contains several questions: the origin and development of Liu Qiang, the cause of its name, the special art features of Liu Qiang, the connotations that can be learned from the scripts, the present conditions of Liu Qiang. Among these, the study on origin is the most important, and emphasis is also put on the analysis of scripts. To the questions mentioned above, I finally get conclusions as below:Liu Qiang appeared in Qianlong period, and took shape during Guangxu period of Qing dynasty. It is based on Zhou Gu Zi tune, that once spread widely in Shandong province. It takes long time to finish this process. In short, some characteristics of Zhou Gu Zi tune were absorbed by the native tune of Jimo, so that Jimo Liu Qiang finally matured.Concerning the cause of Liu Qiang's name, most people believe that it is the result of homophonic, but no credible explanations have been offered. Considering both the meanings and the pronunciations, this thesis gives a proper answer. Jimo Liu Qiang is very popular among people because of its special characteristics, which contains music, performance, words and expressions, etc. The study of Liu Qiang's features will make great sense to its future development.Besides, the analysis of scripts such as"si jing ba ji"explores the cultural idea and connotation of Jimo Liu Qiang, which makes up the blank of scripts analysis in the research currently. As an opera widely accepted in Jimo, Liu Qiang plays an important part in people's cultural and economic life. The study of Liu Qiang has great meaning on discovering the cultural idea of it, it will not only enrich people's amusement, but also make effect on promoting the development of Shandong culture, especially dramas.Solving problems depends on the data of it. As a result of the data lack, there are still many questions haven't been solved, which demand later study. But I sincere hope that Liu Qiang can acquire more values and get a better development.
