Abstract/Summary:
This dissertation studies on the ancient Chinese teaching textbook "Xun Shi Ping Hua" that compiled in Li Dynasty on Korean Peninsula. The article studies on the language, content and textbook form of "Xun Shi Ping Hua" from the view of teaching Chinese to foreigners. Chapter 1 is a brief introduction of "Xun Shi Ping Hua". And from chapter 2 to chapter 4, we focus on three aspects of this book, which are the language, the content and the form. The language of this book presents the feature of spoken Chinese teaching material. The book uses proper ways to translate the ancient written Chinese to spoken Chinese at that time, which makes the language of the book natural and typical. On the content, the book mainly shows the ideas of Confucianism and Buddhism by short stories. There are also other kinds of stories as jokes, fables and legends. Its content presents the functions of the book are not only teaching Chinese but also educating and entertaining people. The form feature of this book is that it makes use of the literary form of "Ping Hua", which was popular in the time when the book was compiled. It is an innovation in teaching material writing. Chapter 5 takes the characters of students in consideration, and gets a conclusion that there are two principles used by "Xun Shi Ping Hua ". One principle is teaching material should aim at its users, and the other principle is that teaching material should be interesting. The basic of the tow principles is the understanding of the learners. And to realize them also needs appropriate methods related with the language, the content and the form. And the last chapter talks about the inspiration of "Xun Shi Ping Hua " to the compiling of modern teaching material and makes a conclusion of this article.
